The rooftop pool was a requirement – we went in July, and the heat made it impossible to stay out in midday – so early morning exploring, followed by time at the pool in the afternoon, was a perfect combination.
The rooms are large and luxurious – robes, wonderful beds, everything you would expect from a 5 star hotel. The private bathroom features a hot-water shower.

The dinners and lunches were very good although the dinners at other restaurants were better. It’s classy, chic, beautifully decorated and you feel right at home here. In the process of construction wood was recycled for the production of the window frames and doors throughout the whole building. It also boasts an on-site gourmet restaurant, plus free WiFi.
The property offers luxury rooms and suites with a contemporary décor that evokes it’s colonial past.
Every restaurant we went to was within a 12 minute walking distance and we cannot recommend the following strongly enough: Cande (literally right down the street from the hotel), La Cocina Pepina (in the charming Getsemani neighborhood), La Cevicheria and Alma (the best grilled octopus in the world)
Most of the major attractions are also within walking distance except for the fortress and former convent on Mt Popa.
Our room was very standard but was clean, tidy, had air-con, nice shower, and a firm but comfy bed.
The hotel itself doesn’t appear to be much from the outside, but behind the old walls, an entire luxury experience exists. We also visited Playa Blanca which is a white sand beautiful beach and was arranged with a private driver through the hotel.
Fantastic hotel and tremendous staff. A Jacuzzi located on a separated terrace is also available for our guests.
The place feels safe and has a lobby doorman. Reachable by boat are Isla de Barú, with white-sand beaches and palm trees, and the Islas del Rosario, known for their coral reefs.

Best Day Trips in Cartagena
Cartagena is a colonial city on Colombia’s Caribbean coast.
For those we would recommend hiring a private guide and tour VIA CAR especially if you’re here in June-August heat. Also as there’s only 8 rooms here, it feels very exclusive so you always have that feeling you have the entire place to yourself.
Perfect way to celebrate a romantic occasion with your loved one in this very beautiful city.
How much does a room costs at Hotel Quadrifolio ?
Prices start 259 $/night for Junior Suite.
If you’re planning on traveling to Cartagena, this hotel should be at the top of your list of places to stay.
Really, the only downside for me is that the restaurant is affiliated with Rausch, a celebrity chef whose restaurants I have always found somewhat lacking. The Junior Suite Specialis 389$/room per night with breakfast included – if coming on a honeymoon this is the perfect choice for gay couples.
This double room features a satellite TV, tile/marble floor and minibar.

Coffee is really good. The hotel is perfectly situated within the walls of the historic Old Town, yet still far enough away from the hustle and bustle (and sometimes noisy) touristy center. There are many bars and restaurants in the local area, including Cartagena's small gay scene.
This hotel is an excellent option if you're looking to do Cartagena on a budget.
Perhaps because of low occupancy, it was also very quiet and a peaceful retreat from the busyness of El Centro. Don’t miss refreshing drinks like limonada de coco (coconut limeade).
What should I pack for Cartagena?
Pack lightweight and breathable clothing for the warm, humid weather, along with sunscreen and mosquito repellent.
We had a lovely room overlooking the pool (tiny), breakfast is served communal style each morning which is a fun way to meet the other guests (there are only 8 rooms).
